What this site is made of, weighed and signed.
Every page on this site is written by hand: HTML, CSS and a small amount of JavaScript, in ordinary files. There is no framework, no build step, no template, no tracker. No cookie notice, because there are no cookies to notice.
The home page is 32 kB of HTML. The type is 114 kB, fetched once and then never again. Pages are rendered in advance and served from the city nearest you, which is why they arrive before you have finished deciding to wait. View source on any page: what you see is the entire mechanism.
The type is Ronzino, by Collletttivo, with Lineal by Frank Adebiaye for Velvetyne in the marks, and EB Garamond. All three are free and openly licensed, and every licence ships beside the font files where the licences say it should.
Parts of this site were made with machines, including the new ones that write and draw. We say so here because we say so everywhere. The arrangement is the one described in the essays: the machine does the plumbing, and every sentence, colour and refusal on these pages passed through a person who is answerable for it.
It can generate. It cannot judge.
Your domain is registered in your name, not ours. The site lives in accounts you hold. The source is in version control you can read. Nothing we build for you depends on our continued existence: if this studio stopped answering the phone tomorrow, you would lose nothing but our company.
